The China Yixing Ceramic Museum is located in the southern suburbs of Wuxi. In the antique-looking building, ceramics from the mid-Neolithic period to modern times are on display. Not only Yixing’s purple sand, but also various other ceramic products. At the same time, many purple sand studios are also located in the museum. During the visit, one can learn a lot of knowledge related to ceramics. In the Ancient Pottery Hall, hard pottery with stamped patterns from the Han Dynasty, celadon from the Jin Dynasties, purple sand from the Song Dynasty, and piled-up flowers from the Ming and Qing Dynasties are displayed in chronological order. Among them, the national first-class cultural relic, the purple sand ‘Black Patterned Vase’ of the Qing Dynasty, is a rare treasure. The exhibition halls of purple sand, jun ware, celadon, fine pottery, and beautiful pottery known as the five golden flowers are worth seeing. The Celebrity Masterpieces Hall displaying the masterpieces of artists also makes people intoxicated in the ocean of ceramic art. In many purple sand studios in the museum, one can see the process of masters making purple sand teapots. If you want to exchange tea pot experience with the masters, it is better not to choose the lunch time (11:30 – 13:30). The purple sand teapots sold in the museum are relatively expensive. However, if you have a certain ability to identify, you can find relatively good purple sand teapots.
