Here, you will gain a focused understanding of Buddhism. This is an ancient place for woodblock carving and manual printing of Buddhist scriptures, located behind the bustling Erlang Temple in Nanjing, and it was once the former residence of the late Qing Buddhist scholar Yang Renshan. The scriptures produced by woodblock printing have almost vanished, and only here can you find traces of them. It has become a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage site. Only a few dozen masters work in the entire workshop, strictly allocated according to the traditional processes of carving, water printing, thread binding, and case making, which makes one admire the rare spirit of inheritance. Inside the small two-story building, there are more than 100,000 hand-carved templates from over a hundred years ago. Each Song typeface and every cracked texture make you deeply understand the energy brought by faith. We can take a few Buddhist scriptures back, read them with our hearts, smooth them with our hands, and slowly savor the great wisdom within. The opening hours are not open to the public; the specific business status is subject to the daily opening situation.
