The Chinese Milu Park is located in Dafeng Forest Farm on the coast of the Yellow Sea in central Jiangsu Province. The area has 78,000 hectares of wetlands. Its landforms are composed of forest land, reed marshes, grassy beaches, swamps, and salt barrens. It is a typical marine tidal flat wetland. The reserve is home to 315 species of birds, 12 species of mammals, 27 species of amphibians and reptiles, 156 species of fish, 90 species of zooplankton, 599 species of insects, and 499 species of plants. In addition to milu deer, there are also 31 species of animals such as red-crowned cranes, oriental white storks, white-tailed sea eagles, reed parrotbills, and river deer that are listed as national first- and second-class protected animals. There are 93 species of birds protected by the Sino-Japanese Migratory Bird Protection Agreement. Flocks of rare birds and flying creatures, vast expanses of reed marshes, and patches of red fruit and salt wormwood constitute an intoxicating ecological landscape painting and at the same time form a natural and beautiful kingdom of animals and plants. It can be said that the reserve is rich in species resources, has beautiful natural landscapes, vast tidal flat grasslands, and convenient transportation conditions. It is a national ecological tourist attraction with considerable influence and an important base for animal rescue and research on the Yellow Sea tidal flats.
