Chong’an Temple

Chong’an Temple Scenic Area is located in the central part of Wuxi City, in the bustling area of Wuxi. It is known as one of the four major characteristic blocks in Jiangnan, along with Shanghai City God Temple, Nanjing Confucius Temple and Qinhuai River Scenic Belt, and Suzhou Guanqian Street. This area gathers numerous restaurants and large shopping malls, where tourists mainly come for shopping and enjoying local delicacies. The scenic area is named after the former Chong’an Temple, which has a history of over 1600 years but no longer exists today, leaving behind a bustling commercial district.

For traditional cuisine, one can visit restaurants such as Wang Xingji, Gongdelin, and Huangting Food. For shopping, one can go to New World Department Store, Baibain, Sanyang Parkson, as well as emerging commercial areas like Poly Plaza, Oriental Paris, and Huijin Plaza.

If you feel tired from shopping, you can rest in the park, which is one of the parks in China that has been free to visit and play since ancient times. Inside, there are 24 scenic spots including Fangtang Academy, Chishu Cottage, Xiuyi Bai Shi, Caotang Hua Jiu, Songya Cuicui, Baishui Shiquan, Lan Yi Tingqin, and Ying Cong Niaoyu. In front of the former Wuxi County Library, there is a statue of blind musician Abing playing the erhu, who composed the famous erhu piece ‘Erquan Yingyue’. Adjacent to it is Abing’s former residence, which requires a fee to visit. The park is open all year round, 24/7, with specific business hours subject to daily conditions.
