Chuan Sha Ancient Town has a land formation history of more than a thousand years, a city-building history of more than four hundred years, and a county establishment history of two hundred years. It still retains a complete pattern of a square city surrounded by a moat.
Chuan Sha was once a nationally renowned ‘hometown of construction’ and had the reputation of ‘going around the world with a trowel’. Buildings in the ancient town such as the former residence of Tao Guisong, Yidetang, Yidaotang, and Dingjia Garden present a style that combines Chinese and Western elements.
Chuan Sha has produced many great people, such as Huang Yanpei, the writer Hu Shi, and the builder Yang Sisheng. They have made important contributions to China’s revolution and construction.
