Chuihong Bridge, originally a wooden bridge, was first established in the eighth year of the Qingli era of the Northern Song Dynasty (1048 AD).

It was destroyed by war in the first year of the Deyou era (1275 AD) and was reconstructed with 85 arches the same year.

In the eighth year of the Dadu era of the Yuan Dynasty (1304 AD), it was expanded to 99 arches, but soon after, more than fifty zhang of the bridge collapsed.

It was not until the second year of the Tai Ding era (1325 AD) that the county magistrate Zhang Xianzu replaced the wood with stone, transforming it into an arched stone bridge, entirely built with white stone, over 500 meters long, with 72 arches.

According to historical records, the Chuihong Bridge was characterized by its three rises and falls, resembling a semi-circle and a hanging rainbow, hence its name.

The bridge is open all year round, accessible 24 hours a day.
