**About Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park:**
Starting with Shanghai Haichang Ocean Park, a name not unfamiliar, yet my first visit. Located by Dishui Lake in Shanghai, this marine culture-themed park boasts five major themed areas: Mermaid Bay, Polar Town, Ice and Snow Kingdom, Underwater Wonders, and Ocean Tribe, along with a distinctive marine-themed resort hotel. It features six major animal exhibition venues, nine star performances, and six major amusement rides, offering endless entertainment, exhibitions, and thrilling shows. A well-planned one or two days are recommended to fully experience the park. Our visit was a one-day trip, which is the general idea for most visitors.
**One-Day Visit Options:**
1. **Haichang One-Day Tour:**
– (1) Marine Animal Exploration Pavilion
– (2) Killer Whale Theater
– (3) Antarctic Penguin Pavilion
– (4) Dolphin Coaster
– (5) Coral Jellyfish Pavilion
– (6) Volcano Rafting
– (7) Dolphin Theater
– (8) Underwater World Pavilion
– (9) Volcano Time-Space Cable Car
– (10) Iceberg Arctic Pavilion
2. **Haichang Highlight Check-In Route:**
– (1) Killer Whale Theater
– (2) Walrus Theater
– (3) Marine Animal Exploration Pavilion
– (4) Mermaid Bay
– (5) Mermaid Square
– (6) Antarctic Penguin Pavilion
– (7) Coral Jellyfish Pavilion
– (8) Dolphin Theater
– (9) Volcano Rafting
– (10) Underwater World Pavilion
Both routes allow you to cover all the representative points of the park. Along the way, you’ll encounter Ocean Plaza, Ocean Merry-Go-Round, Dolphin Discovery Lake, Mermaid Stage, Volcano Shark Pavilion, and more. The park is vast, and a full day is needed to explore and watch shows, including queuing times. The WeChat mini-program of the park provides real-time navigation and performance times, helping you plan your visit efficiently.
**Our Itinerary:**
– **Morning:** Marine Animal Exploration Hall, Iceberg Arctic Hall, Beluga Performance, Sea Lion Theater.
– **Lunch:** Dined at the Penguin Restaurant (per capita cost around seventy to eighty yuan for a set meal), and visited the Antarctic Penguin Hall.
– **Afternoon:** Orca Theater, Time Travel Cable Car, Dolphin Theater for ‘Dolphin Serenade’, Volcano Shark Hall visit, Mermaid Fairy Tale performance, Dolphin Roller Coaster, Coral Jellyfish Hall, Wet and Refreshing Party, Food Festival stroll, Underwater World Hall, ‘Dance of Fish’ performance.
The day was packed and intense, with the park being crowded even on a Friday. Planning the visit sequence in advance is key to maximizing your experience. The aquarium is ideal for silhouette mood photos, and the park is a popular filming location for the TV series ‘Nothing But Thirty’, with recognizable scenes from the show.
**Key Takeaway:**
Plan your visit sequence in advance to maximize your experience within a single day. The park offers a perfect spot for families, couples, and friends to capture stunning tourist photos.

**Haichang Ocean Park Overview**
Although Haichang Ocean Park is close to Dishui Lake, it is quite a journey from downtown Shanghai. However, transportation is very convenient, accessible by car or subway, and there’s no need to worry about parking if you drive.
