Cuiluo Mountain was originally named Niuzhu Mountain and Caishi Mountain. It was called Cuiluo Mountain after the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The mountain body is handsome, and the cliffs are facing the river. Looking from the river, it ‘seems like a green snail floating on the water’, so it is called Cuiluo Mountain. The formation of Cuiluo Mountain can be traced back to the Mesozoic Triassic period 225 million years ago.
At that time, a large area in the lower reaches of the Yangtze River was still a vast ocean. With the evolution of the earth, due to the influence of internal and external forces, the earth’s crust has undergone drastic changes. In most places, the seabed has risen and the sea has gradually receded, exposing a large area of land. The Yangtze paraplatform is squeezed by surrounding plates to form a part. Cuiluo Mountain is famous for its beauty and there is no lack of wonders and dangers. At the western foot of the mountain is ‘Xidawa’. Here, the rocks are exposed, the cliffs are steep and the valleys are deep, and the vegetation is lush. In spring, the pear blossoms are as white as snow; in autumn, the red leaves are like fire. Every stone and every blade of grass is pleasing to the eye. At the ‘tail of the snail’ there is a huge cliff facing the river, as if cut by a knife and an axe. The texture of the cliff surface undulates, like a natural landscape painting; several huge rocks at the edge of the cliff protrude out of the cliff wall, like a fierce beast raising its head and howling. The river flows rapidly, and the waves beat against the clouds and cliffs. The momentum is spectacular and it can be called dangerous. Tourists lean on Cuiluo Mountain and overlook the Yangtze River, listen to the resonance of the forest waves and the river waves, and watch the seagulls and white sails chasing each other. It is like being in a fairyland. The specific business hours are subject to the opening situation on the day.Cuiluo Mountain
