The Dabieshan Grottoes Scenic Area is situated in the eastern part of the Dabieshan Mountain Range, located in Hongshan Village, Zhangdian Town, southern mountainous area of Jin’an District, Lu’an City, approximately 40km from the urban area. The scenic area spans 25 square kilometers (with a core scenic area of 15 square kilometers), featuring peculiar peaks and beautiful waters, lush vegetation, numerous historical sites, and legendary tales. The scenic area is divided into an East Gate and a North Gate, with the East Gate’s Vanilla Lake being about 6 kilometers away from the North Gate’s Grand Loop.
Within the scenic area, there are grotesque rocks in various shapes and exquisitely crafted grottoes. In the secluded valleys, one can find the fragrant Hundred Flower Garden and the pristine ecological Phoebe nanmu forest. Inside the grottoes, the scenery is picturesque with clear waters and enchanting views, misty waves, blurred sail shadows, and the interplay of mountain and lake colors.
The Dabieshan Grottoes Scenic Area is one of the national geological parks, with an elevation of 291 meters. The eastern and western mountains stretch over 3,000 meters, and the southern layers of mountains span over 5,000 meters. The main attractions include the pristine ecological forest, Phoebe nanmu forest, and the natural grand canyon—Bai Bu Yun Ti. Visitors can marvel at the grottoes that have been formed over hundreds of millions of years, appreciate the unique geological wonders, steep peaks, secluded valleys, and exquisite craftsmanship.
The Dabieshan Grottoes Scenic Area boasts beautiful mountains and lush forests, with a forest coverage rate of over 98%. The air is fresh and invigorating, making it a natural oxygen bar. The scenic area is a complete geological natural unit formed by the erosion of water, weathering, and gravitational collapse of rocks and minerals from hundreds of millions of years ago. It is also a geological natural museum and a paradise for flora and fauna, rich in biological resources.
