The Dajin Gate is the main entrance to the outer city wall of the Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum and also the first gate to officially enter the mausoleum area. It faces south and has three arched openings. In the Ming Dynasty, it was equipped with vermilion lacquered gates. The gate roof was covered with yellow glazed tiles. Now, the gates and roof have long disappeared. In the Ming Dynasty, this Dajin Gate was an intimidating place.
Ordinary people were not allowed to enter without permission. Violators would be punished with a hundred strokes of the cane. The lower part of the gate is a stone-made Xumizuo, and the waist is carved with patterns, reflecting the innovative style of national architecture in the early Ming Dynasty. The two sides of the gate are connected to the red wall of the outer city. Traces of the connection can still be seen. Open all year round and open all day. The specific business status is subject to the opening situation on that day.Must Read
