Daming Mountain is located in the western part of Lin’an, close to Anhui Province. As part of the Huangshan mountain range, it inherits the peculiar peaks and strange rocks of Huangshan, as well as the bright and beautiful landscapes of western Zhejiang. It is an ideal place for spring outings and summer retreats, and in winter, the Daming Mountain Ski Resort is a popular destination for skiing. Visitors can experience walking through the ten-thousand-meter rock cave, hanging cliff plank road, or taking the dry slide down the mountain.
If you have good physical strength, you can take the scenic area minibus at the entrance to ‘Longmen Gorge’ and start hiking up the mountain. Along the way, you will be accompanied by lush forests and streams with waterfalls. It takes about two hours to reach the Longmen Flying Ferry Suspension Bridge, where you can see the majestic Longmen Waterfall. From here, you can see thousands of acres of meadows.

It is said that Emperor Zhu Yuanzhang of the Ming Dynasty once reclaimed wasteland and stationed troops here at this high mountain basin above one thousand meters, which is also the origin of the name Daming Mountain. To the right, you can climb to the viewing platform to overlook the seven main peaks, known as the ‘Mingfei Seven Peaks’; to the left, you can enter the ten-thousand-meter rock cave, which is warm in winter and cool in summer, and was once a mine left by miners.

If you do not walk through the entire rock cave, you can first walk the outside hanging cliff plank road and then continue half of the rock cave. On the way, you will arrive at Jiayuntai, which is a great place to enjoy the mountain scenery and sometimes see beautiful sea of clouds.

Walking straight out of the rock cave, you can reach the sparkling Daming Lake and experience boating on a high mountain lake. Behind Daming Lake is the Daming Mountain Ski Resort, which is open from the end of December to early March each year. After enjoying the beautiful scenery by Daming Lake, you can take the cable car down the mountain at the cable car station in front of the lake, or take the 1.

1-kilometer dry slide at the exit of the rock cave to the bottom of the cable car station, or return down the mountain on foot. The highest peak of Daming Mountain, Daming Peak, is 1489 meters above sea level, and the attractions are all above one thousand meters in altitude, but the terrain on the mountain is relatively gentle, making it easier to walk. The entire hike up the mountain and back takes about 4-5 hours.

Visitors with less physical strength can choose to take the cable car up and down the mountain or take the cable car up and the dry slide down, which takes about 3 hours to enjoy the entire trip. The opening hours are from 07:30 to 17:00 all year round.

Restrooms – there are multiple restrooms inside the scenic area, with clear signs near the ticket hall and the scenic area entrance.
