The Danzhu Leisure Valley, also known as the Danzhu Primeval Forest, is located within Danzhu Township in the southwestern part of Xianju County. It is 45 kilometers away from the county seat and is one of the core scenic areas of Xianju National Key Scenic Area. With a total area of 80 square kilometers, the subtropical evergreen broad-leaved forest land in the scenic area is rich in animal and plant resources and diverse biospheres, and there are more than 2,000 varieties of wild animals and plants. Among them, there are more than 100 species of wild animals and plants under national protection and rare and endangered species, including Taxus chinensis var. mairei, Emmenopterys henryi, Syrmaticus ellioti, leopard, and fish. It is praised by experts as a rare natural plant ‘green gene bank’ and plant’museum’ in the province, and enjoys the reputation of ‘natural medicine treasure trove’. The Danzhu Primeval Forest is an ecological tourism and leisure scenic area featuring ‘forests’. The scenic area is divided into three major areas: leisure tour area, popular science viewing area, and forest risk control area. In the 7-kilometer valley leisure area from the ancient stone village to the thatched mountain villa, you can fully enjoy the rural idyllic charm such as farmhouse entertainment, natural bathing place, tea tasting in teahouses, and leisure vacations. The section from the thatched mountain villa to the龙潭虎穴 where the clear springs in the valleys converge is the popular science viewing area. When you stroll leisurely on this 2-kilometer path, you will feel the biodiversity and the harmonious melody of nature, breathe in the negative oxygen ions in the forest oxygen bar, making you relaxed and happy and reluctant to leave.
