Dapeng Mountain Tourism Resort is located to the north of Ningbo city, near the Jiulong Lake Scenic Area, and is a newly developed vacation area in recent years. It is said to be the departure point for Xu Fu’s voyage to the east, and today, visitors can not only see the historical sites commemorating Xu Fu but also enjoy the amusement park, resort hotels, and other supporting facilities, making it an ideal choice for weekend getaways. The resort features two main scenic areas: the Xianfo Valley on the mountain and the Dapeng Mountain Lake Park (Around the World in 80 Days Theme Park) at the foot of the mountain. It is recommended to spend about two days and one night to fully enjoy the resort. The Lake Park is a favorite among children, while adults can climb the mountain in Xianfo Valley, visit the temples on the mountain, and explore the ancient carvings. Accommodation and dining are centralized near the two scenic areas at the foot of the mountain, with the Dapeng Mountain Hotel (5-star) being a popular choice among tourists. Guests can enjoy views of the Lake Park from their rooms and appreciate the scenery of the Jiuhu Lake opposite. In addition to the proximity to the attractions, guests staying at the hotel can generally exchange their room cards for tickets to the two scenic areas mentioned above, offering great value for money. For a more economical option, the International Youth Hostel nearby offers standard rooms for around one to two hundred yuan. Families with children often head straight to the Lake Park. Similar to Shenzhen’s Window of the World, it features miniature versions of famous landmarks and architectural symbols from around the world, such as the Statue of Liberty in the United States, the Parthenon in Greece, the Roman Colosseum, and more. The park is divided by continents, allowing visitors to ‘travel the world’ in half a day, starting from Asia. It is an excellent place for children to learn and for taking memorable photos. Essential theme park attractions such as pirate ships, drop towers, roller coasters, and rapids are all available here, and almost all are included in the main entrance ticket. Compared to other amusement parks, there are fewer visitors at Lake Park, saving a lot of time spent in queues and allowing for a more enjoyable experience. The Xianfo Valley scenic area is usually accessed by car (about 7 kilometers), and there is also a shuttle service between the valley and the foot of the mountain. This scenic area, themed around commemorating Xu Fu, is a great place to enjoy the natural scenery and relax. Upon entering the scenic area, after walking along an 800-meter stone-paved walkway, visitors arrive at the Foji Temple, which has been rebuilt in the style of the Tang Dynasty in recent years and offers a tranquil environment. Exiting the side door of Foji Temple leads to the Xu Fu Cultural Park, where Xu Fu Square features a statue of Xu Fu, and nearby are some shops selling snacks, providing a place to rest. Continuing forward for about 300 meters, visitors will reach the Dongdu Cliff Inscriptions, an ancient carving from the Song and Yuan dynasties, commemorating Xu Fu’s voyage to the east, which has become slightly blurred over time. Additionally, Qinduan Temple and Qinhuang Palace have displays and group sculptures related to Xu Fu, which are worth a detailed visit for those interested in that historical period.
