Dashushan National Forest Park

Dashushan National Forest Park takes Dashushan as the main body and is about 10 kilometers away from Hefei urban area. Dashushan is 284 meters above sea level. It is a rare large mountain in the suburbs of Hefei. The mountain is high in the southeast and low in the northwest. It is oval in shape and formed by volcanic eruptions. The volcanic relics such as volcanic cones, volcanic waterfalls, volcanic rocks and volcanic necks of ancient volcanoes are still completely preserved.

Because Dashushan has no continuous hills and mounds and is just a single mountain, it is called Shushan. There were ancient relics such as Kaifu Temple, Longzi Tomb, Yuanji Dragon Temple and water wells. With the changes of the times, these palaces and temples have long disappeared, but the scenery of Shushan is quiet and beautiful and still a symbol of Luzhou. There is a television transmitter on the top of the mountain, which is a relatively high landmark in Hefei.

Around Dashushan, there are scenic spots such as ‘Xueji Mountain Villa’, ‘Magnolia Avenue’, ‘Shushan Gallery’, ‘Hefei Wild Animal Park’, ‘Anhui Celebrity Garden’ and so on. A magnificent martyr cemetery has been built on the southern foot. Cherry blossom forests have been built on the eastern foot. About 3,500 cherry blossom trees of 7 varieties are planted, including more than 300 donated by Kurume City, Japan.

These scenic spots are well-arranged and have pleasant scenery. Osmanthus trees are all over Xiangyun Square in the west expansion of the park, on both sides of Huanshan West Road and on the mountain road of Dashushan. The autumn scenery here attracts countless tourists. In autumn, osmanthus flowers are in full bloom all over the mountain and the fragrance of flowers fills the nose. At that time, climb the mountain, listen to the birdsong, see the magnificence of the forest and fully enjoy the beautiful autumn scenery.

In the southeast of the park, there is a water amusement park built in recent years, which is composed of South and North Magnolia Lakes and Folk Custom Village. North Magnolia Lake has a cruise ship dock, lotus curved corridor, etc., mainly for cruise ship fishing. South Magnolia Lake is a ‘water park’. There are two islands and one peninsula, dividing the water surface into four swimming pools for adults, teenagers, children and surfing.

On the west bank of the lake, ‘Folk Custom Village’ is built with yurts, Dai bamboo buildings, etc., each with ethnic customs.
