Datang Gongcha Yuan, originally established in the fifth year of the Tang Dynasty’s Dali era (AD 770), is recognized as the first ‘royal tea factory’ in Chinese history specifically dedicated to processing tea leaves for the imperial court. The current Datang Gongcha Yuan is a newly constructed complex, consisting of four main parts: Lu Yu Pavilion, Jixiang Temple, East Corridor, and West Corridor. Upon entering the scenic area, the entire architecture is built following the natural slope of the mountain, presenting a grand and ancient appearance from afar, and an antique charm up close, as if one has traversed back in time a thousand years. Visitors can immerse in the profound and serene culture of tea while enjoying the pleasure of ‘stealing a half-day’s leisure’. Within the scenic area, the ‘Lu Yu Pavilion’ primarily showcases the life of the tea sage Lu Yu and his ‘Classic of Tea’; ‘Jixiang Temple’ faces ‘Lu Yu Pavilion’ from the north to the south, with Manjushri Bodhisattva enshrined within. The West Corridor is composed of three major sections: celebrity anecdotes, cliff inscriptions, and the twenty-eight historians; the East Corridor reflects the historical roots of tribute tea with content on tribute tea production, the three wonders of tea tasting, knowledge of tribute tea, and court tea art performances. The entire Gongcha Yuan is built in the style of Tang Dynasty architecture, exuding a grand presence. To the east of Lu Yu Pavilion, there is a shopping center, and to the west, a tea tasting room, making it a tea cultural tourist area that integrates sightseeing, study, tea tasting, and leisure, where natural scenery and cultural connotations complement each other. The opening hours are from 08:00 to 16:30 all year round.
