Datong School is located at No. 563, Shengli West Road, Shaoxing, about a hundred meters west of the Ancient Yue Bookstore. Officially known as the Datong Normal School, it was originally a tribute court, later changed to Yu Cang during the Qing Dynasty, and at the end of the Qing Dynasty, it became the main base of the famous revolutionary group Guangfuhui in Zhejiang. The school originally had more than 50 rooms, with north-facing flat buildings covering an area of 3,098 square meters and a construction area of 1,754 square meters.
The overall layout is divided into three sections: the first section is the entrance hall, with the plaque of ‘Datong School’ hanging in the center, inscribed by Mr. Zhao Puchu. The second section is the auditorium, which is now the Guangfuhui Historical Exhibition Hall. The third section was officially opened to the public in 1982 and became the Xu Society, showcasing the life and deeds of Xu Xilin. The first room on the west side of the first section on the east side was originally Qiu Jin’s workshop and the place where she was arrested. The opening hours are from January 1st to December 31st, from 08:30 to 17:00. Preferential policy for children: children under 1.2 meters (not including) are admitted for free.Datong School
