Dehao Root Art Museum is located next to Donggu Lake in Dan Dong Street, Xiangshan County. It was invested in by Zhang Dehe himself with 10 million yuan. The building was designed for Zhang Dehe by Mr. Wu Liangyong, an academician of the two academies and internationally renowned architectural design expert, along with his distinguished student, Dr. Song Yehao, free of charge. Currently, it is one of the largest specialized museums of root carving art in China.
This building clearly exhibits the characteristics of Hui-style architecture. Its exhibition halls showcase over 200 pieces of exquisite works created by 40 Xiangshan root carving artists, concentrating on the unique artistic charm of a new generation of ‘Zhejiang Famous Carvings’. The main structure of the museum adopts the garden layout of a Jiangnan quadrangle, with a well-arranged height difference, terraces and corridors that offer a scene with every step, and an antique charm.
The museum is open all year round from 8:00 to 17:00. Additional information on preferential policies: 1. Local citizens of Xiangshan can enjoy free admission with their ID cards. 2. Children under 1.1 meters (including 1.1 meters) are free of charge when accompanied by adults, and children with a height between 1.1m and 1.4m are half price. 3.
