Dengshan Scenic Area

The Dengshan Scenic Area is located at the junction of Lanshan District and Donggang District of Rizhao City. It is named after the stones of the whole mountain mostly being in step-like shapes. The mountain has undulating terrain. The main peak stands towering in the north of the peaks, with an altitude of 358 meters. Here has a long history, beautiful scenery, pleasant climate, abundant rainfall. There is no severe cold in winter and no intense heat in summer. The peaks are piled up like a picturesque landscape. The lush forests are like brocade. The ponds and lakes are like pearls and mirrors. Birds are singing and cicadas are chirping. The climate and environment are suitable for summer vacation. It is hailed as ‘the north in the south and the south in the north’. The east gate of the scenic area is connected to the tourist road, National Highway 204, Xiamen Road and the coastal road. The west gate (not open) is connected to the fire prevention passage leading directly to Provincial Highway 222. It is only an 8-minute drive from Lanshan West Station. The Dengshan Scenic Area is about 3 kilometers away from the sea. Since ancient times, it has been known as a ‘fairyland on earth’. ‘Spring Dawn at Dengshan’ ranks first among the eight scenic spots of ancient Haizhou. Relying on the good ecological environment and rich natural and cultural landscapes of Dengshan, the scenic area is developed and constructed into a comprehensive themed cultural scenic area integrating multiple functions such as ‘ecological science popularization, love experience, peace blessing, expansion and research learning, outdoor sports, natural viewing, and parent-child vacation’. The scenic area highlights the soul and main line of the scenic area around the three themes of peaceful Dengshan, scenic Dengshan and cultural Dengshan. Peaceful Dengshan – The Peace Gate, Peace Tripod, Peace Stockade, Hongyun Temple and others jointly form the peace culture theme of ‘good fortune and blessing’ and ‘blessing for peace’ of Dengshan. It has a beautiful meaning of ‘climbing the stone steps of Dengshan and rising step by step’. Scenic Dengshan – The forest coverage rate of Dengshan is over 85% and is known as the ‘natural oxygen bar’ of nature. Here has a beautiful natural environment and is the main gathering place of magpies, the city bird of Rizhao City. Mountains, waters, lakes, springs and forests fully reflect the ecological beauty of Dengshan. Cultural Dengshan – Dengshan has profound cultural connotations. There are many historical sites here. The ancient Dongyi culture of thousands of years has a long history. Here is the famous ancient temple Hongyun Temple with a history of more than 600 years. There is the magnificent palace-like building Jinluan Hall imitating the Ming Dynasty architecture. The stone inscription of Xu Han’s poem, a famous calligraphy in the Qing Dynasty, is prominently displayed. There are the well-known and widely spread sayings such as ‘Ginseng from Guandong, roots from Dengshan’ and the story of ‘Two Hundred Tops’. There is the Magpie Bridge on the Tianchi Lake on top of the mountain. It is truly a cultural Dengshan. Supporting projects – Dengshan is rich in amusement resources. There is a large-scale expansion base and unpowered amusement equipment, and more than 30 expansion projects can be carried out. Here can conduct activities such as knowledge popularization, expansion and research learning, patriotic education, and live-action CS. There are entertainment projects with strong participation such as children’s playground, peacock paradise, fish-touching pond, pitch-pot, and archery. A conference room, research learning dormitory and a team restaurant that can accommodate more than 260 people to have meals at the same time have been built.

Active and retired military personnel with valid identification are also admitted for free. Disabled individuals (including severely disabled individuals and one accompanying person for the blind) with valid identification are admitted for free. Firefighters and rescue personnel with valid identification are admitted for free. Students with valid identification enjoy a half-price discount. Minors over 1.4 meters (exclusive) are also eligible for a half-price discount.

During the visit, visitors should consciously maintain a safe distance of more than 1.5 meters from others and take personal protective measures. If you have symptoms such as fever or cough, please proactively contact the scenic area staff and cooperate with the epidemic prevention and isolation measures. 3. Smoking and carrying fire sources into the scenic area are strictly prohibited. Please consciously abide by the regulations on forest fire prevention. 4. It is forbidden to carry controlled knives, various flammable and explosive dangerous goods into the park; the use of drones and other flying objects is prohibited without approval; the sale and burning of high incense are prohibited. 5. The scenic area advocates for civilized travel. Please do not spit or litter in the scenic area; destruction of tourist facilities is prohibited.
