Dongbai Mountain is located in the central part of Zhejiang Province, within the jurisdiction of Huyu Town, Dongyang City. It is the main peak of the Kuaiji Mountain Range, with an elevation of 1194.6 meters. It is bordered by Zhuji City to the north and Shengzhou City to the east, making it one of the famous mountains in Eastern Zhejiang. Dongbai Mountain is a gathering place for historical sites and cultural relics, including the thousand-year-old Zen Forest Monastery and Nunnery, which date back to the sixth year of the Tang Dynasty (832 AD), and the site of Huang Chao’s rebel army in the Tang Dynasty. The high mountain Tianchi and Yuquan are like mirrors, and it is said that they were the place where the seven fairies bathed and played, leaving footprints on the rocks to this day. The diverse rocks are refreshing to the eyes and ears. Dongbai Mountain is a famous place for love, with the Fairy Temple widely known, and the Qixi Temple Fair has been popular for hundreds of years. Tens of thousands of young men and women from surrounding counties and cities come to the mountain on July 7th to commemorate the steadfast love of the Cowherd and the Weaver Girl, praying for a happy love life and a perfect marriage. Since the Tang Dynasty, Buddhism and Taoism have risen in Dongbai Mountain, with more than ten temples, including Zen Forest Monastery, Fairy Temple, Nunnery, Laokou Temple, Xiba Temple, Bai Zong Temple, and Mengpo Temple, spread throughout the mountain’s slopes, with thriving incense and a history of being a sacred place for religion.
