Donghu Scenic Area is located in the east of Pinghu City, and is a city park well worth visiting. Along the lake, there are eight scenic spots known as Nan Village Book Stack, Pearl Containing Glow, Nine Dragons Playing with Pearls, West Pu Fishery Net, Northern Plains Pastoral Song, An Mountain Morning Green, Pagoda Shadow and Rainbow, and Donghu Eight Scenic Spots. The area is rich in greenery and cultural landscapes, and also has well-equipped hotels and catering facilities.
It is common to see people taking wedding photos by the lake. It is suitable to spend half a day or a full day leisurely strolling along the lake. Donghu Scenic Area is not very large, and there are very few tourists, lacking some charm compared to Hangzhou West Lake and Jiaxing South Lake. Among the many attractions, the Li Shutong Memorial Hall within Shutong Park (Nine Dragons Playing with Pearls) is a landmark building in the scenic area, housing the life and achievements of Mr. Li Shutong. Circling the north of the lake, the east side of Lv Road, An Mountain Road, and connecting to the south side of the lake’s Pagoda Road leads to Pagoda Shadow and Rainbow. The Baoben Pagoda here is one of the oldest buildings in Pinghu City, and Baoben Zen Temple (10 yuan) has been rebuilt in recent years and has a touch of Zen. Turning south from Pagoda Road and entering Huancheng East Road, the corner is Nan Village Book Stack. At the entrance, there is a stone arch, and by the lake, there is a three-story high Overlook Building (5 yuan) that can overlook the nine peaks by the sea, echoing with the Li Shutong Memorial Hall, complementing each other.
