Xiaoputuo, also known as ‘Xiayu’, is located in the center of Dongqian Lake. A long causeway named Taogong Causeway crosses the lake surface, with a total length of 2 kilometers. The scenery along the way is beautiful. In the Xiaoputuo scenic area, there are not only cultural landscapes such as Xiayu Temple and Water Guanyin, but also a paintball shooting center where you can play live-action CS and barbecue. It is very suitable for leisure vacations. The entrance of the scenic area is near Taogong Village. After entering the scenic area, you can visit in sequence by walking along the long causeway. The road on the causeway is divided into three. The asphalt road in the middle is for sightseeing cars and bicycles. You can also walk on it, but you need to pay attention to safety. On both sides, there is a footpath paved with colored pebbles. There are shrubs and flower clusters between the three roads. Along the long causeway is a row of weeping willows. The wind on the lake in summer is very cool, making it a good place for summer walks. At the entrance of the scenic area, you can take an electric car directly to the Water Guanyin. But walking along the long causeway is also very good. Walking along the long causeway, after crossing the Yingyue Bridge, you come to the Yuebolou Square. You can drink tea in the Yuebolou on the square. Beside it, there is a children’s amusement park with slides, animal sculptures, etc. The ground is paved with various patterns with pebbles, which is very interesting. Yuebolou Square is actually located on a small island. Walking across the Suolan Bridge on one side, there is a small island on the left called Song Island, which is shaped like a pine nut. You can reach it by a small bridge. Continuing forward from here, you will reach Xiayu, the core of the Xiaoputuo scenic area. On the left side of the road here is the Water Guanyin, which is the landmark landscape of Xiaoputuo. The incense is very strong, and many tourists take pictures here. On the right side of the road is the Xiayu Temple. The temple was built in the Song Dynasty. Although the temple we see now is rebuilt later, the buildings and carvings inside are relatively exquisite and worth seeing. There is a ‘Putuo Cave Heaven’ in the temple. Shi Hao, the builder of the temple in the Song Dynasty, built it to comfort his blind mother who could not go to Putuo to worship Buddha. It is modeled after the Chaoyin Cave on Mount Putuo. Now there are some stone carvings and some small Buddha statues inside. Another thing worth mentioning is that there is a stone building ‘Western Ship’ in the temple. Climbing on the ship and looking at the scenery of Dongqian Lake from a high place is very good. Coming out of the Xiayu Temple and continuing forward, after crossing a bridge, you will reach the Yuanyong Square. Because ‘CJ7’ was filmed here, there are some sculptures related to the movie on the square, which are very popular with children. From here, you can go to the paintball shooting center, barbecue garden and Lihuanao on the left. If you have enough time, you can play CS and walk on the forest path. If you don’t plan to go forward, you can choose to take a painted boat near the Water Guanyin to return to the scenic area gate, or just return along the original road on the causeway.
