Dongyuan Tower, a prominent landmark in the eastern part of Fenghua, stands tall on Shang Mountain within Huangxian Forest Park. With seven stories, it is located in the eastern part of the park.
This tower was constructed in memory of Huangxian’s significant ancestor, Lin Bu, a renowned hermit, poet, and painter from the Song Dynasty. As one of the important cultural landmarks in the Lin Bu series within Huangxian Forest Park, it serves as a tribute to his legacy.
The design and construction of Dongyuan Tower were inspired by the Baochu Pagoda in Hangzhou, reflecting Lin Bu’s life in seclusion on Gushan in Hangzhou until his death.
Neighboring Mingzhu Lake to the west, the tower’s shadow stretches across the lake, creating a scene that mirrors the beauty of the mountains and water. This reflection immerses visitors in a scene reminiscent of Lin Bu wandering between Gushan and West Lake, subtly honoring his memory.
Ascending to the top of Dongyuan Tower offers a panoramic view with the lake and mountains at one’s feet. In the distance, the renowned Xiangshan Bay can be seen, dotted with fishing boats and seagulls, presenting a coastal scenery that captivates and refreshes the mind.
