Dongzha is the main filming location of the TV drama ‘Time in a Flowing Stream’. The simple and unsophisticated residential houses are spread along the riverbank, and many local people still live there. It has more of a living atmosphere than Xizha. Visit famous scenic spots such as Mao Dun’s Former Residence and Zhenxiu Taoist Temple, and then experience a black-awning boat ride to better experience the tranquil life of people in the water town.

Touring along both banks of the Dongshi River, you can reach several main scenic spots in the Dongzha scenic area. In addition to fixed venues such as Mao Dun’s Former Residence, Lizhi Academy, Woodcarving Museum, and Coin Museum, the folk performances during the day in Dongzha are also worth stopping to watch: boxing boats in the commercial area, high-pole boats in Caishen Bay, and flower-drum operas performed on the ancient stage.

There is also shadow puppetry in Hanlin Residence, which are vivid portrayals of Wuzhen’s traditional folk customs. Due to safety factors, accommodation services are not allowed to be opened in the Dongzha scenic area. However, there are still some homestays run by local people in the scenic area. The hardware conditions are not as good as those in Xizha, but the prices are relatively cheaper, making it easier to feel the atmosphere of ‘people in the water town’.
