Located at the heart of the ancient town of Zhouzhuang, the Twin Bridges are composed of the Shide Bridge and Yong’an Bridge. The bridges’ surfaces are arranged horizontally and vertically, while their archways are square and round, resembling an ancient key, hence the nickname ‘Key Bridge’. The Twin Bridges gained fame when Chen Yifei featured them in his 1984 painting ‘Memories of Hometown’, bringing international recognition to Zhouzhuang.
Originally built during the Ming Dynasty, the Twin Bridges have been renovated several times. The reflection of Shide Bridge on the water surface forms a perfect circle with the archway itself, creating an elegant shape that attracts photographers and art students for photography and sketching. However, during holidays, the Twin Bridges often become crowded spots in the ancient town, as every visitor wishes to take a photo with this iconic landmark. The bridges are open all year round from 07:30 to 19:50.Twin Bridges in Zhouzhuang
