Mengwaitan Scenic Area is located at No. 233, Dudu North Street, Hengdian Town, Dongyang City, on the south side of Pinghu Road and on the west side of Dudu Road, adjacent to Nanjiang River. The scenic area takes old Shanghai from the 1930s to the 1940s as its main prototype, vividly recreating the urban landscape of that time, restoring the old charm of Shanghai’s famous ‘Bund’, and reproducing classic Shanghai buildings such as the Peace Hotel, the HSBC Building, the Customs House, the Waibaidu Bridge, Broadway Mansion, Yong’an Department Store, Shanghai Great World, and Tianchan Theater.

It showcases the unique Shanghai style of integrating various architectural styles from around the world. Mengwaitan is a Hengdian brand cultural theme scenic area that integrates a movie-themed amusement park, film and television shooting services, tourist leisure resort hotels, and comprehensive services.

[Main Performances] 1. Broadway Dance Show (Coming Soon) This show, with a new performance style, multi-scenes, panoramic, and characteristic of the 3.0 era, showcases the style of old Shanghai in the 1930s, giving visitors a sense of immersion, participation, and experience. It uses multi-level multimedia and multiple full-color lasers, cleverly combined with water and fog systems, to create the splendor and dazzle of Shanghai at night, humorously presenting the heavy and bloody gangster and street culture.

Foreign dancers, aerial diving, synchronized swimming, and silk dances, against the backdrop of a dreamlike water stage and water stunts, form a strong Shanghai regional characteristic, and the magnificent Broadway Dance Show scene, combined with surround 9.1 sound effects, gives a strong audio-visual impact, immersing people in it.
2. Laughter and Tears of the Foreign Play (Coming Soon) This show, with exaggerated and humorous performance techniques, combines traditional opera with modern pop elements.

The story unfolds with a warlord who loves traditional opera during the old Shanghai period, trying to please his fashionable concubine by taking her to the theater to watch a play. However, the concubine does not like traditional opera and insists on watching foreign plays, leading the warlord to order the theater owner to switch to foreign plays.
For the sake of making a living, the theater owner reluctantly copies mechanically and makes opera actors perform Western operas.

All roles such as sheng, dan, jing, mo, and chou appear on stage. Martial actors perform acrobatics, and huadan sings. The combination of hand, eye, body, and foot movements, along with traditional opera makeup, arias, and recitations, is combined with modern popular music opera arias and dance drama fragments. The plot is connected by time-traveling storylines, showing the confrontational scenes between traditional opera and Western operas, which are both amusing and ridiculous.
