1. The digital image works of ukiyo-e in various poses, combined with digital media technologies such as panoramic projection and audio-visual interaction, immerse viewers and let them experience the raging waves, spring snow dancing, mystery and brightness, and brilliant cherry blossoms. Or enjoy flowers and view the scenery with graceful beauties, and appreciate poetry and music. Or be with the kabuki actors with different expressions, enjoying singing, dancing, music, joys and sorrows.

The exhibition brings together nearly 150 collection-level works of various schools and representative painters from the Edo and Meiji periods, including classic original works of famous painters such as Kitagawa Utamaro, Katsushika Hokusai, Utagawa Shigehisa, Suzuki Harunobu, Toshusai Sharaku, Utagawa Toyokuni, Utagawa Kuniyoshi, and Okada Gyokuzan.


3. It covers many art themes such as beautiful paintings, kabuki actor paintings, landscape paintings, and source paintings. The most eye-catching are ukiyo-e art works such as China’s classic literature ‘Journey to the West’, ‘Romance of the Three Kingdoms’, ‘Water Margin’, and ‘The Tale of Genji’ known as the Japanese ‘Dream of the Red Chamber’, as well as works such as tea ceremony, flower arrangement, calligraphy, sumo, and the pursuits of scholars which originated from the painting styles of the Song and Yuan dynasties in China. It is a highly anticipated presentation of the mutual penetration and interpretation of Chinese elements and ukiyo-e. Let the audience feel the development context and unique aesthetic origin of Chinese culture in the Tang and Song dynasties, living aesthetics and the history of ukiyo-e.

With changing scenes and landscapes, through the restoration of scenes with antique utensils and living utensils from the Edo period, the audience can truly experience Edo culture and living aesthetics between reality and illusion through role-playing, time-travel experiences, check-in and sharing.


5. You can experience the production process of ukiyo-e with public teachers. You can apply to participate in the on-site experience class for free. At that time, a series of art classes such as parent-child aesthetic education, tea ceremony, flower arrangement, and sumo will be opened. It is a very exciting, happy and wonderful exhibition experience. Open from February 4th to October 23rd, Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00 – 18:00; closed all day on Monday from February 4th to October 23rd.
