Duobao Pagoda, also known as the Daochang Tower or Wenfeng Tower, stands majestically on the summit of Daochang Mountain, 5 kilometers directly south of Huzhou City. It is colloquially referred to as Daochang Tower and has been a symbol of Huzhou since ancient times. There is a saying: ‘A day without seeing Duobao Pagoda, homesickness arises spontaneously.’

The construction of Duobao Pagoda began during the Yuanfeng period of the Northern Song Dynasty (1078-1085). It was renovated during the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty (1522-1566) and again in the 19th year of the Daoguang period of the Qing Dynasty (1839). After more than a hundred years, the tower had become inclined and cracked. In 1987, the Huzhou People’s Government allocated funds for its repair. The repair was completed in June 1988 and now it is a protected cultural heritage site in Huzhou.
The pagoda is a brick structure with wooden eaves in a pavilion style. It has 8 sides and 7 levels and is built on a stone platform. It reaches a total height of 33 meters. Its flying eaves and tall pinnacle stand tall and straight. Wind chimes hang under the eaves. The top of the tower is adorned with an iron-made pinnacle, which is composed of various components such as a dome, a treasure bead, a lotus flower facing upwards, a wheel, a treasure cover, a round light, a moon facing upwards, and a treasure gourd. The interior features a special square diagonal folding structure. There is a disproportionately large central pillar that passes through the 5th, 6th, and 7th levels and extends straight to the top of the tower, serving to withstand fierce winds. All year round, we are open all day long.
