The Earth Science Museum of Nanjing University is affiliated with the School of Earth Sciences and Engineering at Nanjing University. Guided by the three major debates in the history of geological science: the conflict between the Neptunist and Plutonist theories, the debate between Fixity and Mobility, and the controversy between Evolutionism and Catastrophism. The museum’s exhibits and layout are determined by these two aspects, striving for interest, novelty, scientific rigor, and the integration of natural and human sciences. The museum consists of four exhibition halls. The first hall mainly displays the composition of the solid Earth. The second hall focuses on the movements of the Earth, showcasing various movements on Earth and the records they have left behind. The third hall exhibits the history of life on Earth. The fourth hall primarily displays jade specimens, with ornamental stones and gemstones also on display. The museum is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 08:30 to 11:30 and 14:40 to 17:00 all year round; it is closed all day on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and weekends. The specific business status is subject to the daily opening schedule.
