The grand opening exhibition ‘Rodin: Inheritance and Continuity of Modern Sculpture’, meticulously prepared by Centre d’Art Rodin (Shanghai) in Pudong New Area, Shanghai, will officially debut on September 28, 2024. The exhibition consists of a total of 6 main chapters and 2 special chapters, gathering 106 works including sculptures, paintings, ceramics, and videos. All exhibits are authentic works, including collections from the Rodin Museum in France, such as highly influential and representative works in the field of sculpture art like ‘The Thinker’, ‘The Age of Bronze’, ‘Eve’, ‘Balzac’, and ‘The Burghers of Calais’. Centre d’Art Rodin (Shanghai) in Pudong New Area, Shanghai is a cultural institution authorized by the Rodin Museum in France, owning the ownership of collections and operating independently. It is located in the former French Pavilion of Shanghai Expo Cultural Park and is positioned as a high-end cultural and leisure complex. As a teaching practice base of the Shanghai Academy of Fine Arts, the center is committed to providing high-quality cultural services to the public through activities such as holding exhibitions of authentic cultural relics at the museum level at home and abroad, forums, seminars, and lectures, to meet the cultural needs of Shanghai citizens for a better life. The main building of the center is transformed from the French Pavilion of the 2010 Shanghai World Expo designed by French architect Jacques Ferrier, covering an area of more than 8,000 square meters and having an exhibition space of 4,200 square meters. Its unique architectural structure allows the audience to enter the venue from all sides, bringing art closer to the public and becoming an open, connected, and warm cultural and art center.
