Fan Gong Pavilion is located to the right of the Gusu Temple on Gushan, halfway up the hillside along the stone steps, and is a four-cornered square pavilion.

On the pavilion’s lintel, the renowned calligrapher Mr. Zhang Ji has inscribed the characters ‘Fan Gong Pavilion’ in official script. On the pillars, there is a couplet written by Mr. Jiang Dongshu, which was composed by Mr. Wu Jiqing to praise Fan Gong Pavilion. The first line of the couplet reads ‘Admiring the noble character of Zi Ling and Jing’, and the second line reads ‘Leaving behind beautiful literature for generations to come’. Reading this couplet allows one to understand that Fan Gong Pavilion was built in memory of Mr. Fan Zhongyan.

Apart from this, there are no other textual records or explanations about Fan Zhongyan inside or outside the pavilion, which can be described as a solitary hill, a solitary pavilion, and a solitary couplet. This is also the first scenic spot in Hangzhou to commemorate Fan Zhongyan. The pavilion is open all year round, with full-day access.
