The Xiaolonghong Cave, named in honor of Ding Jing—the progenitor of the ‘Zhe School’ of seal engraving—was人工挖掘于1922年7月。Above the cave, the cliff bears four-character official script inscriptions of varying sizes, reading ‘Xiaolonghong Cave’, alongside an inscription by Ye Weiming, a co-founder of the Xiling Seal Engravers Society.

On the west wall of the cave, one can find an intaglio line drawing of ‘Guanyin with a Child’, engraved by Wang Yiting and inscribed by Wu Changshuo. To the south of the cave lies the ‘Futing’ stone niche. This niche was constructed by the members of the Seal Engravers Society to house a bronze statue of Wu Changshuo, created by their Japanese friend Asakura Bunno in 1921. Wu Changshuo, also known as ‘Fulu’, was the inspiration behind the name ‘Futing’ for the niche. Wang Yiting’s couplet inscribed on both sides of the niche, ‘The golden immortal observes the world, and hides in the stone chamber’, is a tribute to Wu Changshuo’s contentment with poverty, his lack of desire for fame and wealth, and his retreat into quiet practice of inscriptions, calligraphy, and painting.

The Xiaolonghong Cave is open to visitors all year round and all day.
