Feng Menglong Village is located in Huangdai Town, Xiangcheng District, Suzhou City, and is the birthplace of the outstanding literary and dramatic figure of the Ming Dynasty, Feng Menglong. It is also the cradle and birthplace of Feng Menglong’s historical and cultural heritage. Originally known as Xinxiang Village, it was renamed in 2014 to commemorate the 440th anniversary of Feng Menglong’s birth. This change was not only to honor the past but also to reflect on the present, exploring the historical and cultural significance embodied in Feng Menglong.
The village covers an area of 3.2 square kilometers and has developed into a socialist new rural area with a focus on efficiency, ecology, and culture. As the birthplace and origin of Feng Menglong, the village revolves around his main deeds and literary allusions as an official, a commoner, and a literati. It has seized the opportunities of being a national integrated development pilot zone for the primary, secondary, and tertiary industries and a provincial characteristic rural area. By promoting the Feng Menglong cultural brand, the village has established a base for clean governance education. Currently, the village features Feng Menglong’s former residence, Feng Menglong Memorial Hall, Feng Menglong Academy, Oil Seller’s Oil Mill, Feng Menglong Agricultural Culture Park, Guangxiao Mansion, Mountain Song Tavern, Customer Service Center, Dream Dragon Water Tour, Feng Menglong Clean Governance Training Center, Sishizhang Hall, Debent Hall, Xinyan Hall, Qinglian Garden, and a thousand-acre orchard.
