The former site of the Mexican Embassy is located at No. 15 Tianzhu Road, Gulou District, Nanjing. On February 26, 1946, the Sino-Mexican Friendship Treaty was exchanged in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mexico, and both countries established embassies and appointed ambassadors. On August 28, 1947, the Mexican government appointed Eglan as the first resident plenipotentiary ambassador to China, and rented No. 15 Tianzhu Road in Nanjing as the embassy site. This place was purchased by Wang Changchi, a staff member of the Nationalist Government’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, under the pseudonym Wang Nianzu, before 1937. He bought a land area of 7,200 square meters and a building area of 1,951 square meters, including a brick, wood, and concrete Western-style two-story garden building with 12 rooms, two Western-style bungalows with 12 rooms, and two toilets, totaling 26 rooms. The usable area of the house is 912 square meters, and the ancillary area is 310 square meters. The Mexican Embassy vacated the premises in 1950. Open all year round, accessible 24/7, and the exterior is open all day long.
