Fuxing Park is one of the earliest parks established in Shanghai. Over eighty years ago, this area was a fertile farmland inhabited by hardworking and impoverished farmers.
Fuxing Park is a French-style park with a regular garden layout as its main theme, transitioning to a natural style towards the southwest. In recent years, a significant number of new flowers and trees have been added, with a total of 140 species and over 10,000 individual plants, including towering London plane trees, horse chestnuts, lindens, and sweetgums among other valuable trees.
At night, Fuxing Park is also very lively, with a French atmosphere complementing the colorful nightlife. The tranquil corners may suddenly be filled with the sound of high heels, or under the French plane trees late at night, there are slightly intoxicated young people waiting for taxis after a night out. Shanghai’s nights tend to sleep very late here.
The park is open all year round, with full-day access. It is essential to book a seat in advance.
