The Fuyan Temple Scenic Area is located in Tongxiang City and belongs to Fengming Street. It consists of two parts: the thousand-year-old ancient temple Fuyan Zen Temple and Fuyan Cultural Garden, covering an area of more than 130 mu. Currently, it is a national 3A-level tourist scenic area and a religious tourist attraction integrating leisure, worshiping Buddha and health preservation.
Fuyan Zen Temple has a history of more than 1,500 years. In ancient times, there was a saying that “Fuyan Temple came first, and Lingyin Temple came later.” The temple buildings are magnificent. During various festivals, incense announcements and Buddha’s birthday, the incense is curling and it is very lively. After several dynasties, many cultural relics and historic sites have been left. It is famous for the “Seven Treasures of Fuyan,” namely, Wrinkled Cloud Stone, Stone Mending Bell, Yin-Yang Mirror, Sakyamuni Jade Buddha, Horse Skin Drum, Five Hundred Arhats, and Yuhui Jinxian plaque. In addition, it has an indissoluble bond with Yang Wanli, Kang Youwei, Lin Juemin and Lin Yinmin brothers, Pu Hua, Feng Zikai and others.
The Fuyan Cultural Garden built according to the temple is a cultural park with Buddhist culture as its connotation, divided into east and west gardens. The east garden is a typical Jiangnan water town garden. The west garden mainly contains Buddhist culture. It mainly has buildings rich in Buddhist connotations such as Bu’er Gate, Screen Wall, and Tripitaka of Fahai.Every year during the May Day holiday, the Vegetarian Culture Tourism Festival offers an elegant journey for you to taste vegetarian food, appreciate art, and experience Buddhist culture. In golden autumn October, the Fuyan Zen Tea Banquet is a pleasant Zen journey where you can listen to Buddhist scriptures, taste Zen tea, and understand life.
