Gaochun International Slow City is located in the northeast of Gaochun District. It is a comprehensive tourism scenic area integrating ecological sightseeing, agricultural experience and leisure vacation formed by integrating hilly ecological resources. It is also the location of the China headquarters of the International Slow City Alliance. Gaochun International Slow City is 48 kilometers long and winds among six administrative villages, with a regional area of 50 square kilometers.
The ecology within the territory is beautiful and the scenery is pleasant. Gaochun International Slow City focuses on creating beautiful rural areas on the banks of the Yangtze River, developing organic agriculture, and creating agricultural sightseeing parks and ecological demonstration bases such as ten thousand mu of organic tea, ten thousand mu of early bamboo groves, ten thousand mu of seedlings, ten thousand mu of organic food, and ten thousand mu of economic forest fruits. The scenic area of the slow city has Zhang Xun Memorial Hall, Yongqing Ancient Temple, Nancheng Ruins, Daguan Pond excavated by Liu Bowen. There is the ‘Tongluo Well’ where you can hear the sound of gongs and drums when throwing stones into the well. There are the Tiandi Theater, Zhuangyuan Mountain, and Wanghe Pavilion built in the 16th year of Guangxu. There is also the Jingshan Bamboo Sea, Nanjing’s larger original bamboo forest planted in the Yuan Dynasty, and other eighteen scenic spots in Yaochi.
