Gaochun International Slow City is located in the northeastern part of Gaochun District, a comprehensive tourist attraction integrating hilly ecological resources, offering ecological sightseeing, agricultural experience, and leisure vacation. It is also the headquarters of the International Cittaslow Alliance in China. The Slow City spans 48 kilometers, weaving through six administrative villages, covering an area of 50 square kilometers. With its beautiful ecology and pleasant scenery, Gaochun International Slow City focuses on creating a beautiful countryside along the Yangtze River, developing organic agriculture, and establishing agricultural sightseeing parks and ecological demonstration bases such as ten thousand acres of organic tea, ten thousand acres of early garden bamboo, ten thousand acres of seedlings, ten thousand acres of organic food, and ten thousand acres of economic forest fruits.
The scenic area includes Zhang Xun Memorial Hall, Yongqing Ancient Temple, South City Ruins, and the Grand Official Pond excavated under Liu Bowen’s leadership. There is also the ‘Tangluo Well’ where dropping a stone into the well produces the sound of gongs, the Tiandi Theater built during the 16th year of the Guangxu Emperor, Zhuangyuan Mountain, Wanghe Pavilion, and the larger original bamboo forest in Jinling dating back to the Yuan Dynasty – Jingshan Bamboo Sea, which are among the eighteen scenic spots of Yaochi. Additionally, there are supporting facilities such as agritourism and resorts. Open all year round from 08:30 to 17:00.
