Gaogong Island Fenghuang Bay Scenic Area, formerly known as the Phoenix Nest Scenic Area, is a scenic spot in Jiangsu Province that integrates both mountain and sea landscapes. It is an important part of the Yuntai Mountain Scenic and Historic Interest Area. The scenic area leans on the Yuntai Mountain Range to the west and borders the Yellow Sea to the east, surrounded by mountains on three sides and facing the sea on one side, making it a forest park and a natural ecological scenic area. It is an excellent place for Lianyungang to watch the sunrise. According to legend, this is also the estuary where Sun Wukong went to the East Sea to retrieve the divine needle. On Phoenix Nest Mountain, there is an ancient cave called Huanggu Cave. The scenic area features secluded valleys and dense forests with lush green trees providing shade. Centuries-old ancient trees, despite enduring countless years of rain, snow, and wind, remain lush and flourishing. There is a large area of catalpa forest within the mountain, and it is said that the divine dragon and the giant phoenix fell in love here, and this tree is the tree where the phoenix perches. The scenic area faces the sea to the east, where there is a vast clean beach. The golden soft sandy beach appears exceptionally beautiful against the backdrop of the azure sea water. Nowadays, the beach has been developed into Gaogong Island Seashore Bathing Area, equipped with changing rooms, shower rooms, and a retail department. The opening hours and specific business status are subject to the day’s opening conditions.
