Gesheng Pottery Village, founded in 1996 by Mr. Ge Tao, is a renowned institution dedicated to the art and craft of purple sand from the esteemed pottery family of Yixing. In 2016, the village relocated to a new site for further development.
Situated at No. 183 Taodu Road, Yixing City, the pottery village is nestled at the foot of Longbei Mountain. It features an antique three-entry courtyard-style Jiangnan residential building with white walls and black tiles, designed in a staggered layout that follows the mountain’s contours. The construction area spans 7,000 square meters and includes a variety of facilities:
1. The intangible cultural heritage museum of the purple sand ancient dragon kiln.
2. The Huanglongshan purple sand raw ore museum.
3. The purple sand calligraphy and painting academy.
4. The purple sand popular science classroom, which covers an area of 400 square meters.
5. The purple sand meditation academy.
6. Shangzi Academy.
7. The former residence of Master Jingzhou.
8. The century-old Gedhe Pottery Store.
9. Longtan Mountain House, a space dedicated to the art of tea.
10. Homestay and catering services.
Gesheng Pottery Village serves as a popular science education base, offering a one-stop experience of purple sand art and culture. It is a complex that integrates culture, tourism, life, education, and art. The village also acts as a window for domestic and international guests to explore and understand the rich culture of purple sand.
The village is open all year round, with operating hours from 08:00 to 18:00 daily.
