Gu Wu Xiang Temple is located in the Wu Xiang Temple Forest Park, south of Lishui City, Nanjing. Originally constructed during the Six Dynasties period, the temple was unfortunately destroyed by war in the late Qing Dynasty. Only the ruins and a simple Buddhist hall remain.
However, the surroundings of Gu Wu Xiang Temple boast a wealth of historical relics and cultural sites, including Han Xizai’s Reading Platform, Du City, Ming Crown Prince’s Drinking Horse Site, Zen Master Zhen Gong’s Bone Pagoda from the Song Dynasty, the Yuan Dynasty architecture Zhao Yun Pavilion, the Ming Dynasty’s Stone Guanyin Pavilion, and cliff inscriptions.
The temple is open to visitors all year round from 08:30 to 17:00.
