Guangming Peak is one of the higher summits of Huangshan Mountain, with an elevation of 1860 meters. It is named for its high and open terrain, and the long duration of sunlight exposure. Climbing to the top offers an exceptional view, as it is one of the best locations to overlook the surrounding majestic peaks, as well as to witness sunrises, sunsets, and sea of clouds. From Guangming Peak, one can observe the wonders of the East China Sea and the Western Sea peaks, with Tiandu, Lotus, Yu Ping, and Ao Yu peaks all within view.
Although Guangming Peak is not among the so-called thirty-six peaks of Huangshan, it is considered the crown of all peaks by ancient people, hence it is listed above the thirty-six peaks. During the Ming Dynasty, the Monk Pumen built the Great Compassion Monastery on the peak, and now, on its site, stands one of the highest meteorological stations in the East China region—the Huangshan Meteorological Station.Open all year round, it is accessible 24/7.
