The ancient saying goes, ‘The Si River flows, the Bian River flows, all the way to the ancient ferry of Guazhou.’ This place was once where the Tang Dynasty monk Jianzhen set sail for Japan; Wang Anshi of the Song Dynasty, in his poem ‘Mooring at Guazhou,’ wrote, ‘Jingkou and Guazhou are separated only by a river, and Zhongshan is just beyond a few mountains,’ which also stopped here; even the folk tale of Du Shi Niang’s anger sinking the hundred treasure boxes took place here.
Yangzhou is at the crossroads of the Yangtze River and the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal, and Guazhou Ancient Ferry has been a vital link for north-south traffic since ancient times. Emperors Kangxi and Qianlong, as well as poets and literati of all dynasties, left many well-known poems when they passed through Guazhou. Therefore, Guazhou Ancient Ferry is not only a beautiful river crossing but also the setting for countless historical legends. Today, the Ancient Ferry Park features the ancient ferry site, the Imperial Stele Pavilion, and the Sunken Box Pavilion, along with newly constructed attractions such as the Silver Ridge Tower, Jin Chun Garden, Reflection Pond, Garden within Garden, ‘Guazhou Ancient Ferry’ Stele, Archway, Tide Viewing Pavilion, and swimming pool. It has also invested in expanding the Ancient Ferry Hotel and the South Garden Restaurant, making it a leisure, tourism, and entertainment center that combines historical relics and modern cultural landscapes. The opening hours and specific business status are subject to the daily opening conditions.Guazhou Ancient Ferry
