Gucheng Lake in Nanjing is named after the ancient ‘Gucheng’ by the lake. It is commonly known as Little Nanhu Lake. The predecessor of the lake was originally a lagoon by the sea. Coral fossils at that time were found and collected on the limestone in the Dongyan and Huashan areas by the lake. Historically known as Danyang Daze. After years of alluvial deposits by rivers and sediments, there appeared lake beaches one after another. After reclamation by generations of people, Daze was divided into Danyang Lake, Shijiu Lake and Gucheng Lake. Only Gucheng Lake is a lake owned by Gaochun District. The existing area is about more than 30 square kilometers. The water quality is pure and clear. It is rich in fish, shrimp and water caltrops. Supplementary note on preferential policies: 1.
