Guhuai Tower, originally built during the Song Dynasty, marks the point where the Huai River makes a steep turn to the south. The ancient Guhuai Tower was destroyed due to war and floods, and was reconstructed at the end of 2008. The tower features a rising, tiered eaves architectural style, standing 18.36 meters tall with three above-ground floors and two underground levels. From the top of Guhuai Tower, one can enjoy a panoramic view of the ancient Huai River to the north and a complete view of the new district to the south, making it an excellent place for sightseeing and appreciation of the landscape.
Upon entering the ‘Gate of Happiness,’ visitors step into the Jianghuai Marriage Customs Museum. The traditional Chinese red circular ‘double happiness’ character wall decoration greets visitors, along with the bridal sedan chair used in the Guhuai area, immersing them in a rich festive atmosphere. Inside the hall, the ‘Hall of Gratitude’ recreates the scene of a wedding ceremony in the ancient Guhuai area. Couples exchange vows and receive blessings from friends and family here, never forgetting the grace of their parents’ upbringing, hence the name ‘Hall of Gratitude’.
