Guli Ancient Town is located in the eastern suburbs of Changshu City, featuring white walls and black tiles, small bridges and flowing streams, which exude the charm of a typical Jiangnan water town.
The town has a profound cultural heritage dating back to ancient times and still preserves numerous historical sites. Among them, the most famous is the book collection building from the Qing Dynasty Qianlong period – the Tieqin Tongjian Building.
The Baimaotang River runs through the entire area of Guli, flowing into the Yangtze River. The houses on both banks are reflected on the water surface, creating a tranquil and beautiful scene.
The once four-section Tieqin Tongjian Building now only has two sections left, revealing its historical vicissitudes. Upon entering the main hall, one can find portraits of ancient sages, calligraphy, and manuscripts.
In addition to this, the scenic area also includes attractions such as the Huizhou Guild Hall and the Donghu Academy, all of which are well worth visiting. The opening hours are subject to the actual operating status on the day.
