Gushan, also known as Yifu Mountain, is the hometown of the strategist Fan Zeng and is named after its resemblance to a giant drum. Covering an area of more than 2200 acres, with a forest coverage area of over 1700 acres, Gushan is characterized by its harmonious blend of natural beauty and Buddhist culture, making it one of the most visited pilgrimage sites in the Jianghuai region. The mountain is lush and verdant, with towering ancient cypress trees providing a dense canopy of greenery.
On the mountain’s slope, there stands a white marble statue of Fan Zeng and a pavilion dedicated to him. At the peak, a Ming-style Gushan Tower with seven visible floors and an additional hidden floor can be found. Approximately 300 meters along Yifu Street, one arrives at the grand entrance of Gushan. The Gushan Gate is an imposing, multi-level antique-style construction. It features two-tiered glazed tile eaves and four red colonnades. The golden characters ‘Gushan Temple’ atop the gate are personally inscribed by Mr. Zhao Puchu. Below, on the colonnades, is a couplet written by Zhang Kaifan and composed by Fang Keyi, which reads: ‘Touching the sky at the summit, embracing the earth with compassion.’ Opening Hours: Year-round, Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 17:00; Saturdays from 09:00 to 16:00.
