Gutang Village is located in the western part of Wangjiangjing Town, bordering the 07 Provincial Road to the east, Tengyun Village to the south, Tianhua Pond to the west, and Xiyan Village to the north. It covers an area of 2.75 square kilometers with 2635 mu of paddy fields. The village is being developed into a scenic spot with the characteristic of ‘Colorful Gutang, Jiangnan Stove Painting’. It aims to build Gutang into a scenic village oriented towards rural tourism, integrating the well-being of villagers and leisure for urban residents, through six aspects: ecological protection, industry cultivation, cultural heritage, facility improvement, space optimization, and environmental enhancement. In 2018, it was recognized as a provincial-level leisure tourism demonstration village. In June 2019, Gutang Village established a water sports base, actively participating in a series of tourism activities themed ‘Beautiful Wangjiangjing’ in the Jiaxing Canal Cultural Provincial Tourism Resort. The scenic area has invited several water sports clubs with certain popularity and influence in Jiaxing to cooperate in the development. Combining ‘professional’ sports with ‘sightseeing’ tourism, they vigorously promote and popularize popular water sports such as kayaking, paddleboarding, and water yoga. The market for leisure sports tourism is expected to grow, and Gutang Base will create a water sports development platform with rich sports culture and a solid sports industry foundation.
