Yu Qu Yuan (1821 – 1907), named Yue, with the courtesy name Yinfu and literary name Qu Yuan. He is from Deqing, Zhejiang Province. A famous scholar in the late Qing Dynasty, he served as an editor in the Imperial Academy and educational inspector of Henan Province. He taught at the Gujing Jingshe in Hangzhou for more than thirty years. He was proficient in Confucian classics, Yi-ology, and literature. He had a rich collection of writings throughout his life and was reputed as a master of Confucian classics. The current tomb was renovated in 1992.
Originally, there was Youtai Xian Guan near the tomb, which was built by Yu Qu Yuan. After Yu Qu Yuan’s wife, Yao, died, she was buried on the right side of Santai Mountain. Yu Qu Yuan purchased land and built a house beside the tomb and named it Youtai Xian Guan. It is planned to be rebuilt near the original site to echo Yu Qu Yuan’s tomb.
