Located at No. 40 Hu Paolu, Hangzhou City, the Hangzhou Zoo is originally situated at Qianwang Temple. It is in close proximity to Tiger Spring Dream, Liuhe Tower, and is adjacent to the Children’s Park (Manlong Guiyu) in the north, facing Yu Huang Feiyun from afar. The zoo is designed as a mountainous zoo.
The zoo features over 20 pavilions, including the Elephant Pavilion, Giant Panda Pavilion, Giraffe Pavilion, Amphibian and Reptile Pavilion, and Acrobatics Pavilion. Within the Giant Panda Pavilion, there are two giant pandas named Chengjiu and Shuanghao. The Acrobatics Pavilion hosts more than 10 daily performances of elephant, tiger, and lion training.
Upon entering the zoo, there are two paths available for visitors to explore. It is advisable to choose the less crowded route for easier animal viewing and photography. Although the zoo is not extensive, it boasts beautiful scenery with trees lining the paths, allowing visitors to enjoy both the animals and the landscape.
In addition to animal viewing, the zoo also offers a small train amusement park and a rotating octopus ride for children, with an additional charge. There are small shops at regular intervals throughout the zoo, selling water, beverages, instant noodles, and other snacks. The Rare Birds Store provides fast food, noodles, and casseroles, where visitors can dine if they are hungry.
