Directed by Liu Zhouming, an innovative director known for his creative spirit in visual arts, the ‘Heart Imprint: The China Gate’ light and shadow show takes the triple-barrier city of Zhonghua Gate as its stage. Utilizing advanced light and shadow performance technologies such as holographic boxes and 3D mapping projections, the show dresses up the festive Zhonghua Gate in a technologically fashionable splendor.
With culture as its soul, light and shadow as its medium, and technology and creativity as its means, the show has overcome numerous challenges to become a new business card for Nanjing’s night economy. As a resident of Nanjing, you can immerse yourself in a history that can be touched, filled with surprises; as a tourist, I wander through, not only witnessing the history of Nanjing but also discovering how interesting technology has awakened the slumbering century-old stories, leaving one full of emotion. What kind of visual culture does the ‘Heart Imprint: The China Gate’ present? Let’s unveil it one by one: the light and shadow show integrates and interacts with real-person programs such as Nanjing Baiju, opera, and modern dance, taking you through the vicissitudes of history and dialogue with the golden age of Jinling in the past. As snowflakes fall and the red curtain drops, do you also follow the steps of the dancers to communicate with these soulful guardians of the city, witnessing the construction of this magnificent fortress anew? As the autumn shadow turns into golden waves, and we raise our wine to the bright moon, Chang’e rides the wind, and the city gate resonates with the charm of Beijing Opera. The quintessence of Peking Opera, which is usually out of reach, is now available for VIP close-up encounters at Zhonghua Gate. The opening hours are all year round from 17:00 to 21:30, with performances on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays at 19:00, 19:50, and 20:30 (this ticket includes the Zhonghua Gate light sculpture show and night wall climbing).Concessions: Children under 1.2 meters (not including) accompanied by a paying adult enter for free; children between 1.2 meters (not including) and 1.4 meters (including) enjoy half-price tickets.
